Our Service
Luxury Coach Service from Cramond to Carlisle with on board toilet departing on Saturday afternoon, and early on Sunday morning
Bike transport by lorry with protective packaging provided. A bike can only be booked along with a coach seat
Bags (with change of clothes etc.) from the start of RTTS in Carlisle transported back to Cramond for collection when you finish
Information on our service for 2026
Our experienced team of 60 volunteers helped 350 riders take part in the last RTTS, with 93% of feedback rating the service as excellent. We’re looking forward to running the service again this year. We very much appreciate your support in using the service and proceeds raised make a big difference in providing opportunities for local young people to experience adventure, challenge, and gain valuable skills for life through Scouts across our local area..
We have not changed our prices for number of years, but given increases in our costs over that period the cost of a bike place/coach seat will increase to £55. The cost of bag transport remains unchanged at £5.
We’re busy planning the details for this year and expect these to be very similar to last year. Please check the links below for draft information and we’ll confirm when these have been finalised.
Ready To Book?
Read the guidelines below for the service you want to use, then click the button below to visit our online ticket office to place your booking.
Check in for coach services is 90 minutes before departure. We ask for this time as we need to load all 100 bikes bikes for your service carefully in the lorry one by one so it can leave 30 minutes before your coach..Late check ins mean more delays for everyone, so please help us keep on schedule.
Saturday 20th June: Davidson Mains to Carlise for the start of Ride To The Sun – Coach/Bike Transport
- Select Saturday 20th June as the date
- Select which of the three service times you prefer, with coaches departing at 3.00 pm, 3.30 pm or 4pm
- Choose the number of coach seats and bike places you want
- You can pre-book bag transport – where you can deposit a bag with our collection team when you arrive in Carlisle with fresh clothes etc.. We will bring this back and store it securely in Cramond Kirk where you can collect it when you finish.
- Proceed to the booking details and payment screen. You will receive a confirmation email with your tickets,
Saturday 20th June: Bag transport only from Carlisle Castle Street Car Park to Cramond Kirk
- Select Saturday 20th June as the date
- Choose any departure time – it does not matter as you will not be booking any coachseats/bike places
- Make sure the number of coach seats and bike places is set to zero
- Enter the number of bags you want to drop off at Castle Street Car Park for return to Cramond. We will bring this back and store it securely in Cramond Kirk where you can collect it when you finish.
- Proceed to the booking details and payment screen. You will receive a confirmation email with your tickets,
Sunday 21st June: Cramond Kirk Halls – Carlisle Castle Car Park to return to Carlisle after finishing Ride To The Sun:
- Select Sunday 21st June as the date
- There is only one departure time – 6.00am – for the departure of our coach and lorry to the Castle Street Car Park at Carlise
- Choose the number of coach seats and bike places you want
- Leave the number of bags as zero – as you can take bags on the coach with you
- Proceed to the booking details and payment screen. You will receive a confirmation email with your tickets,
Change or cancel an existing booking - please do this online
Click this button and enter the email address used to book your tickets to make the following changes online:
- View your order confirmation
- Request your tickets are resent to you
- Change the date/time of your booking ( but not the number of places/bags)
- Cancel your booking (see our policy on cancelllations and refunds below

How late can I leave it to book?
All our services book up well before the date of Ride To The Sun – especially for the Sunday coach service from Cramond back to Carlisle where we are very limited in the number of places we can operate.
Cancellations and refunds
Our term and conditions state that no refunds are provided, due to our need as a small charity to manage the risk of losses arising from the cancellations of bookings.
We do our best to resell cancelled places and offer a refund, if this is possible. For cancellations made up to 22nd May, an online refund (with deduction of the small 3rd party booking charges) will be automatically returned to your card account. After that date, no automatic refund on cancellation will be provided. To request a refund, email us with details for our consideration.

Helping Young People and our communities
A very important part of our Scouting values is to provide young people opportunities to develop and gain skills for life, and to contribute to the communities we live in. Ride To The Sun gives us a great opportunity to do both.
As well as raising funds for Scouting, our team also volunteer to help run the Café with all profits being donated to a local charity.
Scouts – preparing young people with skills for life
Every week, Scouts helps almost half a million people aged 4-25 develop Skills for Life. Being a volunteer is so rewarding for you in so many ways. You’ll only know if you try. You can work directly with the young people or more behind the scenes in whatever flexible role suits you in time, skill and space. You don’t have to have had any prior Scouting experience, you just need to want to do good, and help others. If you believe in this as a set of values then this is a great opportunity for you.
